Shoplifter Turns Into Robber
A young man suspected of shoplifting managed to get himself arrested for robbery after he fought with store security personnel. The incident occurred at the Fry’s Electronics store at 2311 Hollywood Way, on March 25, around 12:30 p.m.
Loss prevention officers at the store observed the man place a product into his backpack, then leave the store without paying. When they contacted the suspect outside the store and attempted to place him under citizen’s arrest, he attempted to run. During the struggle that ensued, the man thrashed about swinging his arms. The loss prevention officers were eventually able to handcuff the suspect and escort him back into the store.
The suspect, Nathan Melara, 18, of North Hollywood, was arrested for robbery, and booked into the Burbank Jail.

Fearing for his safety, the victim went back inside the store and purchased a bottle of alcohol with his own money, and took it back to the three men. The trio took it and fled on foot.
The three suspects are described as male Hispanics, 30-40 years old, 5’9” – 6’ tall, with medium to heavy builds. Each had a receding hairlines or a shaved head.
