Elderly Woman Struck By SUV In Burbank Dies

An elderly woman struck by a white Ford Explorer near San Fernando Boulevard and Walnut Avenue on Thursday, April 25, at 8:49 a.m. died from her injuries at Holy Cross Medical Center on Friday, April 26.

Rosa Rivera, age 87 and a Burbank resident, was on the western sidewalk headed northbound along San Fernando when she was struck by an SUV driven by Roxanne Prilutsky, according to Sgt. Darin Ryburn of the Burbank Police Department. Prilutsky, a 35-year-old Burbank resident, was exiting the parking lot onto San Fernando Boulevard.

BPD police Car Logo-2Rivera had been pushing a small portable cart and police think she was headed to the grocery store.

The impact knocked her to the ground and she struck her head on the pavement, said Ryburn.

Rivera was transported to Holy Cross Medical Center for head trauma and underwent surgery immediately. However, she passed away at the hospital on Friday.

There was no indication that alcohol or drugs were a factor in the accident, added Ryburn.

 

The investigation into the accident is ongoing and police ask anyone who may have been in the area and witnessed the accident to contact Detective Sam Anderson in the Traffic Bureau, at 818- 238-3103.
