Former School Board Member Dr. Henry ‘Bud’ Hunt Passes

Burbank Unified School District has announced the passing of Dr. Henry Hunt.

The District has learned of the sad news of the passing of Dr. Henry Hunt. We would like to share the information below, which is taken from the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Dr. Henry B. Hunt, known as “Bud,” passed away peacefully, in his home, in Vista, California, on June 19. He was born on February 15, 1933, to Henry Robert Hunt and Mildred Ferguson Hunt in Burbank.  Bud graduated from Burbank High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After returning to Burbank, he married his high school sweetheart, Wilmadele Baker, and raised a family of six children. He attended USC and Loyola and had a successful dental practice in Burbank for 42 years.

Dr. Hunt spent much of his time serving his family and community. He was a member of Kiwanis and Rotary. He served for 12 years on the Board of Education of the Burbank Unified School  District and was a big contributor to the success of the 1997 school bond measure. He also served for several years years on the City of Burbank’s Boards of Planning and Parks and Recreation.

He coached little league, built and flew model airplanes, raised parrots, raced pigeons, restored antique cars and was an avid fisherman. Bud is survived by his wife, Wilmadele; his sister, Billee Hunt Carr; children, Carolee and Ron Whitehead, Marissa and John Munoa, Kevin and Monica Hunt, Colleen and Brian Hervey, Elizabeth and Scott Lowry and David and Leanna Hunt; 24 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
