Man With A Gun Jumps Through Backyards
On April 29, when officers responded to the area of San Fernando Blvd. and Grismer Ave. regarding a fight that had occurred at McCambridge Park, the police dispatchers began receiving numerous calls from residents about a man jumping over fences and running through backyards. One caller said the man pulled out a gun and waved it at them.
A search of the area turned up a suspect in the 1700 block of Grismer St. He had discarded the gun, but offices later recovered it. The weapon was stolen. The suspect, Daniel Cornick, 23, of Burbank, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, and for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. His bail was set at $35,000.
Carjacker Gets Ride In Police Car Instead
A would be carjacker ended up getting a ride in a police car — directly to jail. On April 29, around 5 p.m., two men sitting in a car in the 600 block of E. Tujunga Ave. were approached by the suspect, who attempted to carjack the vehicle. The man simulated that he had a gun concealed in his waistband.
The robber then demanded the victims’ cell phones, finally grabbing the driver’s phone out of his hands. The two men were then able to get away from the robber by driving away. They immediately called the Burbank Police. Officers conducted a search of the area and located a man matching the suspect’s description at Orange Grove Ave., and Seventh St.
The man, Albert Miramontes, 41, of Huntington Park, still had the victim’s stolen cell phone in his possession when police contacted him. He was placed under arrest for robbery and booked into the Burbank Jail. His bail was set at $50,000.
Pair Of Robbers Leave Empty-Handed
On April 27, at 12:25 a.m., two suspects wearing dark clothing and bandanas approached a man in the 1700 block of Elliot Dr. They pointed a handgun at the man and told him to give everything he had. Fearing for his life, the victim ran to a nearby apartment complex, and called police.
The two suspects were wearing dark clothing and bandanas. They left the area in a 1990’s model Toyota Camry that was beige or gray in color.

What A Dummy!
Police took a man into custody after he was observed simulating a sex act with a mannequin at the Sears store in the Burbank Town Center.
A female loss prevention officer at the store observed the man on April 24, at 11:45 a.m., on a store surveillance camera. He reportedly approached the female mannequin from behind and began to violently hump it in a simulated act of sodomy. Evidence was also located on the mannequin’s shorts and on the suspect’s pants.
The man, Mateo Garcia, 55, of Arleta, was placed under citizen’s arrest by the loss prevention officer and transported to the Burbank Jail by police. He told police that he is employed as a security guard. His bail was set a $500 for the misdemeanor crime.
Juvenile Bicycle Thieves Busted
Two boys who allegedly stole bicycles in separate incidents, were cited by police and released to their families on April 23.
A citizen recognized the bicycle a boy was riding as one that had been stolen from an apartment building in the 1900 block of Jackson St. The juvenile was detained until police arrived. He admitted entering an apartment and stealing two bicycles.
Another boy took a bicycle from outside the Verizon store at Olive Ave. and San Fernando Blvd. The owner of the bicycle attempted to catch the suspect, but he got away. The boy later turned himself in at the police station.
Police Officer Stops Street Robbery In Progress
A police officer on routine patrol driving on San Fernando Blvd. near Orange Grove Ave., April 22, at shortly after 9:30 p.m., observed what appeared to be a robbery in progress.
The apparent robber, Jaime Perez, 46, of Burbank, was reportedly asking someone for money. When the victim did not give him any, Perez grabbed the victim by the near and began shaking him violently. The officer immediately got out of the patrol car and ordered the suspect to stop. Perez immediately let go of the victim, and was placed under arrest.
He was booked into the Burbank Jail for attempted robbery. Bail was set at $50,000.
Two Arrested In Illegal Activity Enforcement at Hotels
The Burbank Police Department conducts special enforcement at local hotels and motels, targeting narcotics, gang, and prostitution activity. After doing an internet search fo female escorts advertising their services in Burbank, they found two females who were at the Extended Stay American at 2200 Empire Ave.
When they went to the hotel on April 18, at 1 p.m., they contacted the first woman she was preparing to perform a sex act for money. She admitted to posting the ad on the internet and engaging in prostitution. The other woman admitted to intending to engaging in prostitution.
Based on evidence found in their rooms, statements they made, and the advertisements, they were both placed under arrest. Katerina Marceau, 19, of Las Vegas, was arrested for prostitution. Sherry Rogers, 18, of Adelanto, was arrested for loitering with the intent to commit prostitution.
Third Row Seat Thefts
The “Back Seat Bandits” are still out there. In the latest incident of third row seat thefts from SUV’s, the owner of a GMC Denali had their seats taken while the vehicle was parked in the 2800 block of Burton Ave., an industrial section of Burbank near the Bob Hope Airport.
The theft occurred sometime between 9:30 a.m. on April 17, and 11 a.m. on April 21. The thieves punched the driver’s side door lock to gain entry into the vehicle.

Suspected Shoplifter Threatens Guard With Knife
On Monday, April 23, at 9:40 p.m. the sensors sounded an alarm as a man was leaving the Ralphs Maket at 25 E. Alameda Ave. When the 55 year-old security guard tried to stop the man from leaving, he pulled out a knife and advanced toward the guard, telling him to “back off.”
The suspect ran through the parking lot as the security guard called police. When arriving officers began checking the area, they located a person matching the suspect description at the Chevron gas station located at Alameda Ave. and San Fernando Blvd. The guard was able to positively identify the man. Officers also found the knife and other items the suspect had discarded near the gas station.
Kenneth Priem, 51, of Burbank, was placed under arrest for robbery. He was booked into the Burbank Jail and also charged with violating his parole. His bail was set at $50,000. He is scheduled to appear in count on April 25.
Young Arsonists Arrested After Fire At Miller Park
On Sunday evening, April 22, shortly after 8 p.m., a citizen saw two boys, ages 13 and 14, setting a roll of toilet paper on fire in the sandbox area Miller Park, located at Kenneth Rd. and Providencia Ave. The citizen approached the two boys and told them to stop and put out the fire. The boys complied.
A short time later, the two boys were reportedly lighting toilet paper rolls on fire in the men’s restroom. When the citizen approached, he saw the same two boys leaving the restroom. The Burbank Police and Fire Departments were then called. They found burned toilet paper rolls, and damaged holders inside the restroom. Based on information from the witness and the fire department, it was determined that an arson had occurred.
After conducting a follow-up investigation, officers arrested to two boys at their respective residences. They bother were both arrested for arson, entering a structure to commit a felony, and vandalism. They were transported to the Burbank Police Station, and later released to their parents.
Mother’s Boyfriend Arrested For Child Abuse
A Burbank man was arrested for child abuse after he reportedly injured the 12 year-old daughter of his girlfriend.
According to police, the incident occurred in a residence where the victim lives with her mother and sibling, and the mother’s boyfriend. On April 17, at 7:45 a.m. the suspect, John Kukawski, allegedly grabbed the girl and threw her down on the ground.
The victim and her father came to the Burbank Police Station on the evening of April 19, to report the incident. The girl does not live with her father. Officers observed small abrasions o the girls left ankle, a bruise on her left shin, lacerations to her left forearm, and a small cut to the back of her neck. The girl said the injuries were caused by the suspect.
At the conclusion of their investigation, officers arrested Kukawski foto a child. He was booked into the Burbank Jail. He posted the $100,000 bail and is due back in court on May 18. The Department of Children’s and Family Service was notified, and are conducting their own independent investigation.
Customer Threatens To Kill Business Owner
A Burbank man who apparently got “overheated” arguing with the owner of Sunset Auto Repair, located at 1305 W. Magnolia Blvd., on Thursday afternoon. The man had brought in a friend’s vehicle to the shop for repairs. He returned later and argued with the shop owner over the charges.
Around 3 p.m. the man and the owner of the vehicle returned to the shop. Both of them were arguing with the shop owner when one of the men got into a physical altercation with the owner. One of the men, Kenneth Reid, 24, of Burbank, allegedly threatened the shop owner, telling him he was going to return later and kill the owner and his employees.
Fearing for his own safety and that of him employees, the owner called the police. Officers arrested Reid, for making criminal threats to cause bodily injury. He was booked into the Burbank Jail. Bail was set at $50,000,
Officers Identify Identity Theft Suspect
A report of a suspicious man in the area of Hollywood Way and Magnolia Blvd., on April 18, at 3:15 p.m., led officers to arrest a man on suspicion of identity theft.
When officers contacted Shaun Timothy Haslock, 35, of North Hollywood, he admitted to recent narcotics activity. During a consent search of the man and his vehicle, offices located bank access cards, checks, and other documents and information belonging to other individuals. Based on the items found, Haslock was placed under arrest for identity theft. He was booked into the Burbank Jail. His bail was set at $50,000. I don’t think they are going to let him use any of those bank cards to make bail.

Thieves Take Eye Glass Frames On April 20, a pair of thieves made off with eye glass frames from the Burbank Optometric Center located at 1032 Hollywood Way. The two men entered the open business just after 11 a.m., and began looking at the frames on display. They did not seek assistance from the business’ employees. One of the men placed four pairs of glasses in the pocket of his jeans. The second man was seen placing one pair in his pocket. A few minutes later both men left the store without paying for the frames.
One suspect is described as a White male, 45-55 years old, 5’10” to 6’0”, 220-250 lbs., heavy build, with collar length brown curly hair, wearing a blue cap, white polo shirt, and blue jeans.
The second suspect is described as a male Hispanic, 35-40 years old, 5’8” to 5’10”, 200-230 lbs., heavy build, with short brown hair and a mustache. He was wearing a white cap, gray long-sleeved shirt, blue jeans, and white shoes.

On April 7, vandals struck overnight, scratching the paint on seven vehicles parked in the 1700 and 1800 blocks of Chandler Blvd. All of the vehicles were on the South side of Chandler. They include a 2010 Dodge Challenger, 2011 Chrysler Town & Country, 1999 Jeep Wrangler, 2006 Toyota Camry, 1991 Chevrolet Suburban, 2004 Ford Excursion, and a 2002 Honda Civic. Apparently no suspects were observed.

Hotel / Motel Illegal Activity Enforcement
Patrol officers have been conducting enforcement at local hotels and motels, specifically targeting narcotics, gangs, and prostitution activity.
Drug Arrest At The Ramada Inn
On April 5, at 8 p.m., officers were patrolling through the parking lot of the Ramada Inn, located at 2900 N. San Fernando Blvd., when the smelled the strong odor of marijuana coming from a parked vehicle. They contacted three people who were near the vehicle, asking them about the marijuana odor. They told the officers that they had just smoked marijuana in the vehicle. During a consent search of the three people and their property, various narcotics were found. China Chavez, 39, and Maurice Bardley, 31, who both reside in Palmdale, were arrested for drug possession. Bardley was also arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Prostitution Arrest At The Ramada Inn
On March 30, at 12:05 a.m, officers went to the Ramada Inn at 2900 N. San Fernando Blvd., after checking various websites for individuals posting ads for their “personal” services in Burbank. They spotted a woman walking the grounds of the hotel who matched the description the saw on the internet. When they contacted her, she admitted posting the ad. Based on evidence later located in her room, her statements, and the internet ad, they arrested Sreyno Choun, 22, of Fresno, for loitering with the intent to commit prostitution.
Thefts That Turn Violent Become Robberies
Home Depot
On April 4, shortly after 8 p.m. a loss prevention officer working inside the Home Depot located at 1200 S. Flower St.noticed a man that they recognized from previous thefts. The man was observed placing items into his waistband. When the loss prevention officer stopped the man near the exit, the suspect pulled out a knife or razor blade and made a stabbing motion toward the officer. The suspect then ran out of the store without paying for the items, and got into a brown Nissan Pathfinder. When the officer went into the parking lot to get the vehicle’s license number, the suspect drove directly at him, almost hitting him.
The suspect is described as a male Hispanic, 5’10”, 200 lbs., with black hair, a possible goatee or mustache, and acne on his face. He was wearing a tan-colored button down shirt over a yellow undershirt with black stripes, and blue jeans. He is wanted for armed robbery, and assault with a deadly weapon.
Macy’s
On April 3, at 4:20 p.m., a woman shopping at Macy’s in the Burbank Town Center was observed concealing merchandise on her person , then leaving the store without paying. Loss prevention officers from the store contacted the woman and attempted to detail her. She reportedly began struggling with the officers, trying to keep the stolen merchandise and escape. The loss prevention officers were finally able to put handcuffs on the woman just as Burbank police officers arrived. The woman, Hilda Rabanales, 41, of North Hollywood, was arrested for robbery.
