Burbank Police Communications received a call at approximately 8:45 a.m on Tuesday, March 12 from a resident in the 6oo block of San Jose Avenue who claimed that he was stabbed with a knife by his roommate, after a fight inside their apartment, according to police reports.
Officers arrived and contacted a man on the street in front of the apartment complex, holding a knife. The individual, Alvaro Rene Laborin, 32, was detained, as the officers conducted their initial investigation.
Officers located a man in the stairwell of the complex, suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim, Kenneth Villeneuve, 46, was transported to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, where he is listed in stable condition.
Burbank police stated that the caller originally contacted outside on their arrival, was taken into custody and booked into the Burbank Jail for attempted murder. He is being held $1 million bail, and is scheduled for arraignment on March 14, in Burbank Superior Court.

Burbank Police arrested a 52 year-old man who was on parole after police responded to the Ralph’s market at San Fernando and Alameda Tuesday night. The 55 year-old security guard called police to who first responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call.
The guard had first stopped the suspect as he left Ralph’s Market after the sensors went off. The suspect immediately pulled a knife and moved toward the security guard, telling him to back off.
The suspect then fled the area through the parking lot as the security guard called the police. While checking the area, police located a suspect matching the description in the gas station at Alameda and San Fernando.
Officers then transported the suspect back to the store where the security guard positively identified the suspect and he was arrested for 212.5 (a) PC-Robbery. Officers checking the area, recovered the knife and property that was discarded by the suspect near the gas station.
Arrested was Kenneth Priem, 52, of Burbank. Bail is $50,000 with a court date of April 25.
A home invasion robbery occurred March 12 in the 1900 block of North Buena Vista Street. The victim answered her door upon seeing a security officer in full uniform, consistent with the security officers at her apartment complex.
When the victim opened her door, the suspect immediately forced his way into the apartment, holding a knife. The man, still holding the knife to the victim, demanded her cash and jewelry before fleeing the apartment in an unknown direction.
The suspect is described as a Male, Hispanic, 30-39 years old, 5”-10” to 6’, 200-250 pounds, last seen wearing a white uniform style shirt, black pants, and black shoes or boots.
