Baseball:
The Burroughs baseball team swept a double header against visiting Dos Pueblos Saturday, notching a 5-4 win in game one and a 1-0 win in game two.

Burroughs 5 Westlake 4 (9 innings)
The Burroughs baseball team won in walk-off fashion, pushing the decisive run across in the bottom of the ninth to notch a 5-4 win against visiting Westlake in the teams’ final game of the Easton tournament.
Senior shortstop Brian Pozos hit a first-pitch breaking ball up the middle to plate senior catcher Chris Davies for the win.
Senior Brandon Ortega notched his first win of the season with 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief, allowing one hit and striking out four. Senior Miles Haddad did not factor into the decision spite four strong innings in his first start of the season. He gave up a single earned run while scattering five hits and striking out three.
Sophomore Noah Hoed and Junior Cameron Rodriguez both finished with a double and a single on the day.
Haddad, Davies, Akira Abderrahman and Luis Pereyra also tallied hits for the Indians (2-3).
West Ranch 5 Burbank 1
Burbank fell behind 3-0 after the first inning and only recorded four hits on the afternoon. Hector Rodriguez had a single and an RBI for the Bulldogs who finished 2-3 in the Easton Tournament.

Burbank took 2nd place in the Hart Tourney. Caitlyn Brooks had 30 strikeouts and is leading the state of California in ERA and second in strikeouts in the state for a sophomore.
Burbank 4 Chatsworth 1
Caitlyn Brooks had 14 strikeouts and Jazmin Orozco was 2-3 with a double and 2 RBIs. Bridgette Pisa was 1-1 with 2 walks and Cailtyn Brooks was 1-3 and 1 run scored and Ashley Russo was 1-3 with a RBI.
Highland 2 Burbank 0 (Championship)
Highland has UCLA’s 2015 pitcher Rachel Garcia on the team. Caitlyn Brooks had 16 strikeouts. Laina Do was 1 for 3 with a stolen base and Jazmin Orozco was 1 for 3 and Ashley Russo was 1 for 2.

La Reina 4 Burroughs 0
Burroughs managed only 4 hits, and made 3 errors in the field to give the victory to the Regents. Burroughs had leadoff hits in three consecutive innings but managed to strand 5 runners on base for the game. Pitcher Brice Edrington pitched great for Burroughs, allowing only 4 hits, but was let down by her defense, giving up 3 unearned runs. Burroughs received hits from Michelle Santiago, Edrington, Aimee Rodriguez, and Tori Talavera.
Burroughs 4 Paso Robles 2
Cheyenne Steward pitched the Indians to victory and evened their record at 3-3, giving Burroughs 7th place in the Simi Valley Tournament. The Indians went behind 1-0 in the first inning, but responded in the second inning as junior DH Lahela Bautista hit a booming solo home run to even the score. Trailing 2-1 in the third inning, Burroughs pushed across 3 runs. Sophomore centerfielder Delaney Nicol opened the inning with a line drive single to center. Michelle Santiago reached base on an infield single, and was followed by a walk to Brice Edrington to load the bases. Steward then beat out an infield single to score a run, and that was followed by a single by freshman shortstop Kaitlin Okimoto to score two runs and put the Indians up by a score of 4-2. Steward then went to work and relied on a solid defense to seal the victory for the Indians. On the day, Steward gave up 5 hits, 2 earned runs, while walking 2 batters.
Burroughs will now play a doubleheader at Notre Dame on Tuesday, with games at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. They then open up league play with a tough game on the road against Arcadia on Thursday afternoon. After that, the Indians will head to La Jolla, CA to take part in the “Duds by Dudes Torrey Invitational” during their spring break.
