The following letter was sent out by the Burbank Police Department thanking the community for their help:
The Burbank Police Department would like to thank the community for their assistance which led to the apprehension of individuals involved in crimes.
Recently, three suspects wearing hard hats, utility belts, and orange vests, falsely represented themselves as employees for Charter Communications. The suspects told a resident they worked for the company and proceeded to remove copper wiring from a utility pole.
A concerned resident wrote down the suspect vehicle license plate number, due to the fact that the suspects did not have any company identification on their clothing or the vehicle. This helped detectives who conducted investigations which led to the location of the suspects and the vehicle. The suspects admitted to stealing the copper wire, and were arrested.
About a month ago, a resident observed a vehicle in front of their neighbor’s house that was not usually parked there. The resident also observed their neighbor’s window screen on the ground and a side window open. The concerned resident, recognizing that their neighbor was not at home, wrote down the vehicle license plate number. After seeing an individual exiting the residence, carrying various items, they called the police. This information enabled detectives to locate the suspects and vehicle. The suspects were still in possession of the stolen property.
It is situations like these, where our citizens recognize suspicious activity occurring and act swiftly in contacting the Burbank Police Department, that we are able to apprehend suspects involved in criminal activity. We thank you as a community for your efforts and ask that you continue to keep a watchful eye for suspicious activity to help to keep our city safe.
If you see any criminal or suspicious activity, you should obtain as much information as possible, such as vehicle license numbers and suspect descriptions, then call the Burbank Police at 818-238-3000.
