The City of Burbank and Burbank Unified School District partnered to share the Let’s Move! message with Burbank families. Let’s Move! is an initiative, launched by the First Lady, dedicated to solving the challenge of childhood obesity by promoting healthy eating and physical fitness.

Burbank joined the national “Let’s Move” bandwagon by holding their event held October 1 at Johnny Carson park which brought out hundreds of kids, parents and pets. Warner Bros. supplied Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck and lots of free goodies to everyone in attendance. There were many activities including rock walls to climb, bounce houses, while several Burbank non profit’s had booths offering their information and handouts.
The event was in support of one of the 2011-2012 Council Goals: “To Promote and Facilitate a Healthier Burbank.” The Let’s Move, Burbank! event got the whole family moving with interactive activities, fitness segments, and dance performances. Resources for children to lead a healthy lifestyle were also highlighted and Burbank Unified School District’s food vendors shared samples of healthy food provided in the schools’ lunch program.
Burbank’s Mayor Jess Talamantes, who was involved in several of the events had his groove on while dancing with Bugs Bunny and every kid in attendance. Everybody walked away from the event with something beside a sunburn.
