On February 2, Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority board member Charlie Lombardo honored Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) with the 2011 Commissioners Congressional Leadership Award for his ongoing support of the aviation industry.
“It’s an honor to award Senator Reid with this year’s Commissioners Congressional Leadership Award,” said Charlie Lombardo, Vice Chair of ACI-NA’s Commissioners Committee and Board Member of the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority in Burbank. “His position on the issue of Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) exemption on airport bonds is just one example of his support for the airport community. As an industry, we could not ask for a better advocate in the Senate.”
The AMT waiver allowed airports to begin capital projects that created thousands of jobs throughout the United States. The change also allowed many airports to begin new construction and refinance old debt, saving our industry millions of dollars in debt service.
