On December 16, at approximately 3 a.m. a Dodge Caravan minivan crashed into a Ed & Al’s Autosound at the corner of Magnolia and Victory Blvds, leaving a gaping hole in the wall of the business, that was closed and unoccupied at the time.
The minivan was heading west on Magnolia Blvd. when it apparently traveled across the eastbound lanes, jumped the curb and struck at tree in front of Giamela’s before driving through the back wall of Ed & Al’s Autosound at 340 N. Victory Blvd. The crash set off the burglar alarm at the business, and the alarm company notified the store’s manager, who arrived shortly thereafter.
According to the manager, a man claiming to be the driver of the minivan called the store and told him that he thought he had left his vehicle at the business. He also stated that he had fallen asleep while driving.
The driver had left the accident scene before the manager arrived. Police officers arrived at 4 a.m. The delayed response was apparently due to a major crime investigation that was occurring around that time at United Rentals on Olive Ave.
The minivan registers to Encino, and was impounded as evidence. The Traffic Bureau is investigating the accident.
