Apartment House Fire on East Providencia Leave 10 Homeless

An apartment fire which was reported at 2:01 pm in the 700 block of East Providencia Avenue left seven adults and three children in need of Red Cross assistance as Burbank and Glendale firefighters took close to 45 minutes to knock down the flames. The fire gutted a unit on the second floor of a a two story apartment. The occupant of the unit, George Haddad. who was not home at the time along with his family, was able to get in and get his pet German Sheppard, Pepper, out without injuries. Burbank fire officials put the structure loss at $250,000 and $30,000 loss to the contents inside with most of the damage confined to the second story.  One firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion with outside temperatures in Burbank in the high 90″s.
