This is going to be a busy week for Burroughs High and Burbank as each school will be involved in CIF Southern Section playoff action.
The Indians’ girls’ volleyball team has a home date against Pacifica Oxnard (14-7 overall) in an opening-round Division II-A match on Tuesday. It’s scheduled to commence at 6 p.m.
Burroughs went undefeated in Pacific League play at 14-0 and 21-7 after sweeping rival Burbank, which placed fourth in league. If Burroughs wins, it will have another match on Thursday.
On the same day, the Indians’ boys’ water polo squad (12-11) will have a home game against Atascadero (9-14) in a Division 4 wildcard match.
Three days later, football will dominate as the Indians and Bulldogs will each have home games on Friday, with kickoffs scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Burroughs, which went 9-1 and 7-0 in league, will play Norwalk (4-6) at Memorial Field.
Burbank, which went 6-4 and 5-2 for second place in league after losing to the Indians 47-21 in the “Big Game” last Friday, will face Dominguez Compton (7-3) at either Moyse Field on the campus of Glendale High or Occidental College in Eagle Rock.
