Burbank’s Boy Scout Troop 209 is selling mistletoe and taking donations for wrapping holiday gifts from now through Dec. 24 on the third floor near Sears in the Burbank Town Center mall.
Mistletoe will also be available at other locations, including Porto’s, Handy Market, Sheridan Gardens and Pavilions, on weekends in December. For more information, visit www.troop209.org.
This is the troop’s major fundraiser and helps Boy Scouts pay for camping trips, where they can participate in hiking, river rafting, rock climbing, canoeing and more.
Funds raised have helped Scouts like Christopher Coomber, 15, of Troop 209, go to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, which costs $1,000 for two weeks. Christopher lives in Sunland and is in the 10th grade at Verdugo Hills High School in Tujunga.
It was the best trip of his life, he said.
Christopher has been involved in the holiday gift-wrapping project for three years. The largest gift he has wrapped was a baby stroller in a huge box. It took several rolls of paper and some patch-work, but he finally finished it, he said.
