Brick Thrower Arrested at Burbank Central Library

Burbank police Officers received a call a around 10:15 pm Thursday night at the Central Library (110 N Glenoaks) regarding an assault with a deadly weapon in progress. An anonymous caller stated they observed a male wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans throw a brick at another male several times and the men were still fighting.

As officers arrived on scene, they observed a group of males arguing in the outdoor seating area of the park. One of the men was wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans.

Upon seeing the officers, the man started to walk away from the seating area and away from the officers. Based on the description provided by the caller and the clothing he was wearing, the officers believed he may be the suspect who threw the bricks during the altercation.

The man, Alfonso Delacruz, 42, who resides in Burbank, was detained by officers, pending their investigation, and later, based on witness statements, placed under arrest for 245 PC (assault with a deadly weapon).

Officers checked the surrounding area for the victim, but were unable to locate the male who was struck by the bricks as he had left the area prior to the officers arrival.

There were reports of residents seeing a man with a possible head injury in the area of the 600 block of East Olive but area checks by officers were unable to find a victim.

Officers sent out a “MED Alert,” to all local hospitals in an attempt to locate the victim who may have a head injury. The victim is described as a 22 year old male transient.
