Three-time Tony Award nominee and veteran of Broadway, film and television, Kevin Chamberlin visited Ralph Emerson Elementary School Thursday to meet the student cast and crew of The Addams Family Young@Part.

Chamberlin originated Uncle Fester in Broadway’s The Addams Family and Horton in Seussical, earning Tony nominations for both roles. His Broadway credits also include Wicked and Chicago, among many others, and his television and film work includes Disney Channel’s Jessie.
The visit was especially meaningful for Emerson students, who performed Seussical Jr. last year and are now preparing The Addams Family Young@Part. Chamberlin participated in a moderated Q&A with Principal Jennifer Almer-Johnson, followed by an opportunity for students to ask questions directly, take photos and get autographs.
“Kevin’s visit gave our students an incredible opportunity to learn from and be inspired by one of Broadway’s best,” said Almer-Johnson. “For many of these students, this is their first experience with musical theatre, making his time with them especially meaningful.”

“She was so excited to meet Kevin and hear him speak. She was absolutely beaming when she showed me his autograph,” said Tirza Soobitsky Culliton, whose daughter is part of the Emerson production.
Now in its second year, Emerson’s musical theatre program was launched with California Proposition 28 funding and developed by Almer-Johnson and Emerson parents Lindsey and Dominic Catrambone. Parents and professional volunteers support students in areas including musical direction, choreography, costumes, scenic design and lighting.
The Addams Family Young@Part will be performed November 6–8 at Emerson Elementary School. Tickets go on sale October 13.
