At a special City Council meeting held Thursday night, the candidates for both Treasurer and City Clerk went through a final round of questions before the Council made appointments.
Burbank Unified School District Board Member Debbie Kukta was appointed to the position of City Treasurer. Kukta will now leave her elected position on the school board to take over the Treasurer’s position for the next 10 months before elections will be held.
This now leaves the School Board with the problem the City Council had in determining how to fill the vacated seat that they now have. Her term on the board was also set to expire in 10 months.
Zizette Mullins has lived in Burbank for 30 years and is currently Glendale’s Community Relations Director. She has also served on the Burbank Civil Service Commission.
Both are expected to start their new positions on July 9.
