The SFVCOG is a Joint Powers Authority established in 2010 to develop and implement policies and plans including transportation, environmental and development issues unique to the greater San Fernando Valley region.

The Council of Governments is comprised of one Council Member from each of the City Councils of Burbank, Glendale, San Fernando and Santa Clarita, in addition to two Los Angeles County Supervisors and seven Los Angeles City Council Members whose districts encompass the San Fernando Valley.

On Thursday, July 11, 2013, members of the SFVCOG voted to name Los Angeles City Council Member Paul Krekorian as Chair and Burbank City Council Member Jess Talamantes as ViceChair for fiscal year 2013-14.

“I am honored to be given this leadership position to tackle significant challenges like traffic, air quality and planning for our future,” said Council Member Talamantes. “These issues directly impact the quality of life for our Burbank residents and I look forward to making sure that their voices are heard.”

Council Member Talamantes has been a board member of the SFVCOG since its inception in 2010.
