 Traffic Stop Turns Up a Felon with a Handgun and Ammo     
 On October 29, at 7:40 p.m., officers observed a driver talking on his cell phone and not wearing a seatbelt.  They conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle at the corner of Empire Ave. and Lincoln St.  When they contacted the driver and his female passenger, they smelled the order of marijuana in the vehicle.  A record check of the driver showed he was out on bond from a previous arrest.  A further investigation turned up a 45 caliber magazine fully loaded with hollow points bullets in the passenger’s purse.  A 45 cal. hi-point semi-automatic handgun was found wrapped in a towel in the trunk of the car.  Both the driver, Jose Jarquin, 30, of Visalia, was arrested for being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun and ammunition.  His passenger, Nancy Monroy, 19, of Los Angeles, was arrested for being an accessory.


Caught in the Act, Burglars Flee the Scene            

On October 28, at 9 a.m. a woman walked into the backyard of her home in the 1700 block of N. Ontario St., and saw a man in the yard.  He was attempting to take her son’s bicycle out of a storage shed.  A second man was standing in the alley acting as a lookout.  The woman yelled at the suspects, and they ran away.   The suspect in the yard is described as a White male in his mid-20’s, 5’9”, 165 lbs., unshaven, with sandy blonde hair, wearing a hooded sweatshirt.  His accomplice is described as a Black male, early 20’s, wearing a hooded sweatshirt.

Maan Under the Influence Arrested for Attempted Burglary

On October 22, at 11:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to 4001 W. Alameda Ave., regarding a suspicious subject attempting to open several locked doors to different offices.  A witness described the man to officers, and told them the suspect had left the building.  A search of the area located a subject matching the suspect description.  When contacted by the officers, the man appeared to be under the influence of a controlled narcotic drug.  He was placed under arrest for attempted burglar and for being under the influence of the controlled drug.
Suspect:  Francis Lockhart, 35, of Burbank.

Man Attacked by Flying Chair in Restaurant

On October 20, at 1:55 a.m., a man was sitting inside the Pho Citi restaurant, located at 346 N. First St., eating a meal. An unknown man approached him and told him he was being too loud.   The suspect then walked over to a chair, picked it up, and threw it at the victim, striking him in the head.  The suspect then left the restaurant.  Burbank Fire Department paramedics responded and treated the victim at the scene.
    Suspect: White male, late 30’s, 5’8″, thin build, short blonde or brown hair, and clean shaven.

 

Traffic Stop Results in Drug Arrest

October 22, at 7:40 p.m. officers stopped a truck and trailer at Keystone and Oak Streets, for vehicle code violations.  The driver admitted to being on probation for narcotics convictions.  A record check revealed that the man had multiple arrest warrants.  With his consent, officers searched his trailer and found a variety of narcotics and paraphernalia.  The man was placed under arrest for possession of dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia, as well as the outstanding warrants.
Suspect:  Christopher Sharff, 39, of Burbank.

Bomb Threats at NBC

October 7, at 1   12:22 p.m., officers responded to the NBC Studios located at 3000 W. Alameda Ave., regarding a threatening email that contained an bomb threat.  It was determined that the email had originated in Elk Grove, California, and their police department was contacted and advised of the situation.  The Elk Grove Police Department had conducted a similar bomb threat investigation.  The individual involved has a history of mental illness.  The NBC Studios were checked, and appeared to be sale of any type of explosives.

Hotel / Motel Illegal Activity Enforcement

Patrol officers have been conducting enforcement at local hotel/motels, specifically targeting narcotics, gangs, and prostitution activity.  During the past week, officers have conducted investigations which have led to the following arrests:

On October 7, at 10:45 p.m. officers were patrolling in the area of the Ramada Inn, located at 2900 N. San Fernando Blvd., when they observed a man who appeared to be loitering outside the front door of the hotel.  They contacted the man said he was waiting for a friend.  He admitted to having prior arrests, and had some needles and a baggie containing narcotics.  Officers recovered syringes and narcotics and placed the man under arrest for possession of dangerous drugs.
Suspect:  Jair Cornejo, 22, of Los Angeles.

On October 13, at 9:25 p.m. hotel security at the Ramada Inn advised officers of suspicious activity taking place in one of the rooms.  A blonde woman had rented the room, and numerous male guests were seen coming in and out of the room. The offices went to the room and contacted the occupants.  They consented to a search of the room, which turned up narcotics and drug paraphernalia.  The occupants were placed under arrest for possession of dangerous drugs.
Suspects:  Heather Careyrozas, 42, of Palmdale; and Kevin Dick, 34, or Pacific Palisades.
