The two women, Milena Nikodijevic, 50, of Burbank, and Wendy Oropeza, 21, of Van Nuys, were arrested by today by Burbank Police officers at their homes.   Nikodijevic is the owner of the licensed daycare facility located 2000 block of W. Santa Anita Ave.   Oropeza is listed as the operator of the facility by police.

On February 1, 2012, police officers and Burbank Fire Department paramedics responded to the facility regarding a report of an infant not breathing.   On their arrival, emergency personnel observed the baby to be in breathing distress.  He was rushed by rescue ambulance to Providence St. Joseph Medical Center, where efforts by emergency room doctors and staff were unsuccessful.  The unidentified baby boy was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Nikodijevic and Oropeza were booked into the Burbank Jail, and are being held on $100,000 bail each.  They are due to appear in Burbank Superior Count tomorrow, March 6.
