Swift action by responding units led to a quick knock down on the fire. Although the residents were not home at the time of the fire, their poodle Coco was treated by BFD personnel and reunited with her owners.

Damage to the apartment was extensive. The residents turned to the American Red Cross for emergency housing. The cause of the blaze continues to be under investigation, though not considered suspicious and possibly accidental.
