The Burbank Fire Department responded to a reported vegetation fire at Palm and Sunset Canyon late Sunday night. While the firefighters were extinguishing that small blaze, Burbank Police reported another vegetation brush fire a couple of blocks away at the intersection of Sunset Canyon & Harvard Road.

The firefighters on scene of the second incident at Sunset Canyon & Harvard, who had a much larger incident, used caution and called for a whole brush assignment. That fire was much more extensive in brush and debris, and with the current weather conditions, prime for rapid development.

Firefighters using hand-lines from two engine companies got the upper hand and cancelled the additional brush assignment. Burbank Police were required to close traffic in the area while firefighters extinguished and overhauled the area.

The Burbank Police Department report that as of today both incidents are under further investigation, and  the fires are being listed as suspicious in nature, with the investigation still on going.
