Search For Artist to Create Artwork for South Korea

Area artists are invited to submit their credentials for the opportunity to create a public art project for the Burbank Sister City Art Exchange with Incheon, South Korea.
2011 marks the 50th anniversary of Incheon’s Sister City relationship with Burbank.  Recently, Incheon Mayor Young-Gil Song proposed that both cities exchange sculptures of art and cultural delegations to commemorate this important anniversary.  Representatives from Incheon are planning a visit to Burbank this fall to install a specially designed art sculpture.  Burbank is now planning a similar project for Incheon.
The theme is friendship between Incheon and Burbank. This project is open to all professional artists residing in the Greater Southern California region.
The cost for projects of a similar scale ranges from $40,000 – $60,000. This budget includes all artist/artist team design fees; fabrication work; transportation of work to site; and on-site design application, installation, and/or artwork integration oversight as needed.  The public art budget for this project is pending City Council approval.
The deadline for submission of applications is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 9, 2011.  Applications must be received in the Library Services Department office by the deadline; postmarks are not acceptable.
