Burbank Police responded to a “hot prowl” call from a resident on the 4300 block of Sarah St. at 2:24 a.m. on the morning of Friday, February 28. Gregory DiCarlo, a 26-year-old resident of Burbank, was ultimately arrested on several misdemeanor charges after police arrived and took him into custody.
The resident had been awakened by someone in his home, early Friday morning. The resident fled the apartment and called police from outside, according to Sgt. Darin Ryburn of the Burbank Police Department.
After police arrived on the scene and as they were approaching the front door, the door opened and the suspect, DiCarlo, exited the residence with his hands held up in the air. During the time that officers had DiCarlo in custody, they noticed he exhibited signs of intoxication. DiCarlo was arrested for being drunk in public, a misdemeanor charge.
DiCarlo had broken in the door to gain entry to the home, breaking the door locking mechanism and the door jamb in the process. The victim also placed DiCarlo under citizen’s arrest on vandalism and trespassing charges.
The suspect thought the residence was his own apartment due to his intoxicated state, explained Ryburn. DiCarlo was cited for the three misdemeanors and released.
