
More than 60 catalytic converters have been stolen from vehicles within the city of Burbank during the last few months. Using leads developed from recent thefts, investigators with the Burbank Police Department initiated surveillance of several possible suspects.
On July 2, 2015, at about 3:30 a.m., detectives apprehended five suspects in the act of removing catalytic converters from vehicles in the Van Nuys area of Los Angeles. The suspects were arrested shortly afterwards.
The suspects were found to be in possession of several catalytic converters, two-way radios, cordless reciprocating saws, gloves, knee pads, saw blades and a floor jack.
The following individuals, who are all residents of Los Angeles, were arrested for conspiracy to commit grand theft:
Lorenzo Zaleta, 28; Ana Lino, 40; Jose Guzma, 32; Walter Delgado, 26; Millie Luarca, 45.
All are due to appear in court on July 6, 2015, and are being held in-lieu of $20,000 bond.
