On Saturday, December 28, Burbank Police officers on bicycle patrol in the Ikea parking structure at 550 N. First St. arrested two people for possession of narcotics after observing them acting suspiciously around a parked car in the garage. Tujunga resident Jaime Marquez, a female age 21, was sitting in the passenger seat of a car and Vahe Aleksanyan, a 30 year old male resident of Glendale, was standing outside the vehicle next the the passenger side. When officers contacted the pair, they noticed evidence of drugs.
“There have been so many thefts from vehicles recently, so officers are patrolling the shopping areas heavily,” commented Sgt. Darin Ryburn of the Burbank Police Department. “Officers have been out on bicycles and in cars.”
Marquez was arrested for possession of cocaine and Aleksanyan for possession of heroin and methamphetamine and booked into the Burbank Jail on a $10,000 bail each. They were seen in court yesterday, December 30, according to Ryburn.
