The Burbank Police Department screened more than 600 vehicles during a DUI and driver’s license checkpoint held Friday, Aug. 14.
The checkpoint was conducted by the department’s Traffic Bureau on San Fernando Boulevard between Walnut Avenue and Delaware Road from 7 p.m. to midnight.
One driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Officers also issued five citations to motorists driving without a valid license and five citations for vehicle equipment violations. One driver was given a field sobriety test.
Checkpoint locations are selected based on areas with a history of DUI-related crashes and arrests. Police said the primary purpose of the checkpoints is to improve public safety and discourage motorists from driving while impaired.
