California Attorney General Kamala Harris attended a meeting of local police chiefs on Thursday morning hosted by the Los Angeles Police Department. Harris finished the meeting by presenting awards for several departments. Burbank’s “Mental Health Evaluation Team” was awarded and present to receive its honor.

Atty. Gen. Harris said in her comments the program that the Burbank Police has started is “smart” as it frees up other resources within the city and countywide. She said the team already made a “huge difference” within a year.
The mental health evaluation team consists of Los Angeles County clinical social worker Dr. Jennifer Hunt, Burbank Police Sgt. Along with the honorees, Burbank Police Chief Scott LaChasse, Patrol Captain Mike Albanese and Captain Denis Cremmins were present. On December 3, the heart of Burbank stood still…and then it stood together. More than 100 police officers and K9 units from cities across Southern California gathered in Burbank in a powerful show of solidarity and love for a fallen hero: Burbank Police K9 Spike.
