The City of Burbank has seen a surge in auto burglaries wherein third rows seats and GPS systems have been stolen from 2003-2007 General Motors SUV’s (Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, the GMC Yukon & Denali, and in some cases, the Cadillac Escalade).  The targeted areas tend to be commercial parking structures and lots (daytime hours) and residential areas (evening to early morning hours).  Entry to the vehicle is made by either punching out the door lock or the vehicle is left unlocked.
This Crime Alert is to inform the Burbank community of this crime trend and to remind vehicle owners to take valuable items with them or keep them out of view.  Also, remove the third row seat if not needed.
In the event you see any suspicious activity, please obtain as much information as possible about the individual(s) and contact the Burbank Police Department directly at 1-818-238-3000.
