With 12 candidates to choose from, the Burbank School Board came down to two names, John Dilibert and Steven Ferguson.  With the vote tied at 2-2, Larry Applebaum broke the tie casting a vote for Dilibert and with that, the 25 year veteran of the Burbank Police Dept. was appointed to the board.

He is replacing Debbie Kukta who left the board last month when she was appointed City Treasurer by the Burbank City Council.  As soon as the vote was finalized, he was sworn in during the meeting held Thursday night, Aug 2.

Dilibert is familiar with the Burbank schools, starting with his graduation from Burbank High School in 1982, and has served as a coach at both Burbank and Burroughs High.

He served as an interim Board member in 2006-07 and the Budget Oversight Committee in 2008-09.

His term will be up in 2013 when the seat is up again for election.
