UPDATE 8/21/13: — Quincy Keaton, 24, of Los Angeles is the suspect arrested for this burglary on Irving Drive. Keaton also had two additional warrants for failures to appear. His bail is $50,000 and court date is August 22. Two suspects are still outstanding and the investigation is ongoing, according to Burbank Police Public Information Officer, Sergeant Darin Ryburn. —
Burbank Police responded to a call on the 900 block of Irving Drive early Tuesday morning from a woman indicating at least two persons had entered her home. Shortly after 8:50 a.m. police arrived at the residence, detaining one African-American male in a car parked on the street outside of the house.
According to Burbank Police Sgt. Darin Ryburn, the woman called the Burbank Police and stated “there’s someone inside my house, they broke in.” Burbank Police quickly responded, detaining a single suspect, and learned two additional suspects, an African-American male, and a second person, either female or male had already fled the scene and both are outstanding.
Ryburn noted a firearm from the residence is unaccounted for, and the two individuals must be considered armed.
Burbank Police, with additional K-9 support from San Fernando and air support from Pasadena, quickly established a perimeter and search area hoping to locate the two fleeing suspects. Unfortunately the suspects escaped the area, which is surrounded by rugged hills, vegetation, and residential areas.
I came outside and the police had just stopped in front of the (victim’s) house, and the police officer pulled a gun at someone sitting in the car” said nearby resident Michael Ghafouri. “Before I knew it police were coming from everywhere, I was absolutely shocked, and amazed how fast the police came.”
Another neighbor, Dennis Garlick, added “I backed out of my driveway at around 8:40 a.m., and the car (the car where the first suspect was detained) was already parked in front of the house. I guess the crime was already in progress.”
Ghafouri concluded “I was afraid we were going to see a shootout here, but I am so impressed by the (police) response, and the organized way they handled things.”
While residents are free to come and go within the neighborhood, Burbank Police will continue to search for the outstanding suspects. Ryburn emphasized that if anybody sees anything suspicious to call the police immediately.
