This past week, Burbank Police teamed up with Burbank Noon Rotary and Kmart to offer kids from the Boy’s & Girls Club of Burbank a little Christmas Shopping Spree. The 25 kids were given a gift card worth $100 and they were teamed up with a Burbank Police Officer, Explorer, or Cadets and then let loose inside Burbank’s Kmart.

Some of the kids headed right to the Toy Departments, while others went for new shoes, or articles of clothing. Several of the kids bought gifts for family members.

This year Kmart gave each participant a Santa’s Hat and a gift bag to boot. Kids comments were ‘this was fun’, and all of them thanked the law enforcement member they were teamed with.

Following the hour long shopping spree, the kids were all taken back to the Burbank Police Station some with parents in tow and enjoyed pizza, chicken, salad, drinks and a special Merry Christmas Cake.

Police Chief Chief Scott La Chasse was on hand to greet every child and during dinner he gave praise to all the kids and suggested they look into careers in law enforcement, telling them now is a good time to make proper decisions in life. He also took time to thank the officers that helped out with the event.
