Burbank Police Warn Local Businesses Of Attempted ADA Fraud

By On September 24, 2013

Recently, individuals alleging violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) have approached several Burbank businesses. Police have released a bulletin warning local business owners about this, as a lawyer subsequently contacts the business to discuss settlement in lieu of pursuing a civil case in court against the business.

Businesses are encouraged to seek legal counsel before making decisions concerning a settlement or potential lawsuit. Business owners may contact the State or County Bar of California with concerns about certain lawyers or ADA compliance. The City of Burbank’s Building Division can provide general information about ADA compliance as well.

A list of recommended resources for the City Building Department and city, county and state Bar Associations can be found here.
