Burbank Resident Targeted in iTunes Card / Virus Scam

By On March 9, 2018

Burbank police report in a Facebook post that a Burbank resident was targeted in a scheme to purchase Apple iTunes gift cards.

Usually, people are receiving messages on their computers, iPads and smart phones to call Apple Support because of an alleged virus. While it may look and sound legitimate with the technician, once the number is called they try and get the person to buy a large quantity of iTunes gift cards in the range of $100 to $250. They promise to provide the codes through either email, phone or scanners.

Burbank police are warning residents not to purchase iTune gift cards or any virus protection software or firewall protection.  They recommend that you hang up the phone immediately.
