The City of Burbank Community Development Department is currently reviewing the City’s single-family residential design standards and is asking for the public’s help. The City wants to ensure that new development is reasonably compatible with predominant neighborhood character while allowing for an appropriate level of flexibility for property owners. The City will be conducting five guided “walk-shops” (walking workshops through neighborhoods) in different locations throughout the City to solicit residents’ input.

“It’s important that residents have an opportunity to tell us what makes their neighborhoods unique and identify those characteristics they want to preserve,” said Project Manager Carol Barrett.

If residents are unable to attend the walk-shops, they can participate online using the project website or the newly developed mobile application OurBurbank. Both allow submissions for the five neighborhoods as well as other neighborhoods users would like to submit for consideration. The app is available via both Apple and Android app stores.

The walk-shops are part of a comprehensive outreach program that will be used to update the City’s residential development standards and propose single family Design Guidelines..
