The Board of Directors of the Burbank Temporary Aid Center (BTAC) has announced this year’s winner of “Burbank’s Top Award for Citizenship” will be The Walt Disney Company. The award will be presented at BTAC’s 8th annual gala fundraiser on March 4, 2011.
“Any city in the world would be ecstatic to be able to boast of being home to The Walt Disney Company,” said Will Rogers, Chairman of BTAC’s Board of Directors. “Burbank not only enjoys that honor, but also benefits from the company’s enthusiastic support for community causes that run the gamut, from education, to infrastructure, from charitable organizations, to civic promotion.”
“As proud as Burbankers are to have The Walt Disney Company here, on a daily basis The Walt Disney Company shows its gratitude to, and appreciation for Burbank,” Rogers added. “At the award gala we look forward to acknowledging and congratulating the people and the company for those extraordinary efforts.”
The gala, also marking BTAC’s 37 years serving the poor, homeless and seniors in Burbank, will be held at the Castaway on Friday, March 4. The evening will include dinner and dancing, a silent auction, and a live auction.
“We work hard to make sure our event reflects our admiration and appreciation of the honoree, whose good works often haven’t been publicized in the past,” said Maddy Horne, a member of BTAC’s Board of Directors and Co-Chair of the Gala Event Committee. “But it’s also important to make it a fun, relaxing and entertaining experience for our guests.”
“Tickets always go quickly, but given how many want to join in celebrating The Walt Disney Company, we expect this will be one of our most popular events ever,” said Horne.
