Saturday was a busy day for the Burbank Tournament of Roses Association as they had their first test drive and inspection by officials from the Pasadena Tournament of Roses. They took Burbank’s float, “The Dream Machine”, on a test drive down Flower Street and ran the animation to show that everything worked OK.
Later in the day the Association held an Open House and Craft Faire,at the float barn, which is located at 123 W. Olive Ave. in the Burbank Water & Power yard. Several vendors were selling their goods and wares at a discounted price with some of the proceeds going back to the Association.
Burbank’s float is self-built by community volunteers . Even though the group receives some funding from the Cityof Burbank, much of the cost of the float has to be raised by the members through funraising activites throughout the year. Girls from The National Charity League were on hand earning service points and helping collect on a ‘Chance Offering’.
Further information about the Association can be found on their web site, www.burbankrosefloat.com or on Facebook.
