Vikings win six games in week three.

Senior Gold 14  Highland 0

In a gritty defensive masterpiece, Senior Gold improved their record to 2-1 with a 14-0 shutout over Highland at Burbank High School. Defensive linemen John Solaris and Christian Seidler led the attack with eight combined tackles for negative yardage.

In the defensive play of the game, Dyllan Esquivel returned an interception 68 yards with less than one minute remaining in the fourth quarter to seal the victory and secure the shutout.  Earlier, Esquivel was involved in the offensive play of the game when he caught a 74-yard touchdown pass from Gabriel Pellot at the end of the first half.

Pellot was five of eight for 126 yards passing and one touchdown. The Viking running game was handled by Tommy Sanchez and Seidler who combined for 167 total yards.

Senior Green 44  Valley 12

In another offensive explosion, Senior Green (3-0) remained undefeated with a 44-12 victory over Valley at Burbank High School. In usual fashion, the Vikings dominated the first half en route to their third straight blowout.

Khalid Taylor returned the opening kick-off 68 yards and Brandon Beardt scored on the very next play with a two-yard touchdown run. In more first quarter action, Beardt added another two-yard touchdown run and Taylor scampered his way to the end zone with a 29-yard touchdown run. The Vikings led 24-0 after the first quarter.

In the second quarter, safety Antonio Tucker intercepted a pass and returned it 38-yards for a touchdown and Beardt added to his career day with a five-yard touchdown run. He then converted the two-point conversion with a dazzling run. The Vikings led 38-6 at the half.

The Vikings have outscored their opponents, 142-26, in the first three games of the season. However, they suffered a tremendous blow when middle linebacker Andy Reyes suffered a season-ending knee injury.

Midget Green 44  Valley 6

Midget Green (3-0) took its show on the road for the first time this season and continued their dominance with a 44-6 victory over Valley at Granada Hills High School. The undefeated Vikings, who have outscored their opponents, 100-20, showed their versatility with five different players scoring touchdowns.

On the first play of the second quarter, Mason Gandara scored on a one-yard touchdown run. Minutes later, Trystan Daggs added a 15-yard touchdown run. Loyal Terry, playing on both sides of the ball with six sacks on defense, scored on a 32-yard run to give the Vikings an 18-6 halftime lead.

Early in the third quarter, Danta Coxsom single-handedly killed Valley’s momentum with a 72-yard touchdown run. On the next series of plays, Coxsom ran for a 37-yard touchdown. With only two carries all game, Coxsom had 109 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Sebastian Leal was the final different Viking to score with a 40-yard touchdown run near the end of the third quarter.

Pee Wee 40  Oxnard 8

The Pee Wees dominated the battle of the “Vikings” and improved their record to 2-1 with an impressive 40-8 road victory over Oxnard at Hueneme High School.

Quarterback Ian Gandara rushed for four touchdowns and running back Paden White added one of his own. However, while the Pee Wee offense lit up the scoreboard, the defense shined for the second time in three games.
