Senior Green 31  Highland 6

Senior Green remained undefeated with a convincing 31-6 victory over Highland at Lancaster High School. It was the first time this season that the Vikings were held to less than 44 points but they still controlled the game from the opening whistle with 31 unanswered points in the first half.

Jake Kelley, playing on both sides of the ball, was the star of the game with one touchdown on 107 total yards, two 2-point conversions, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble.

Other highlights included a 20-yard touchdown pass from Guy Gibbs to Michael Woods, an interception by Khalid Taylor that he returned for a touchdown and a 57-yard punt return by Antonio Tucker for a touchdown.

Senior Green (5-0) has outscored their opponents 231-32. They host Calabasas Silver this Saturday at Burbank High.

Senior Gold 22  Calabasas Black 19

Despite the close score, Senior Gold was in the driver’s seat all game en route to a 22-19 victory over Calabasas Black at Burbank High. After losing the first game of the season, Senior Gold picked up their fourth consecutive victory and now stands alone with the best overall record in the Central Conference of the PYFL.

The Vikings defense, led by Dyllan Esquivel and Jesse Chamberlin, dominated the second half of the game by allowing just 23 total yards. Esquivel had two interceptions on the day along with two deflected passes while Chamberlin had several key tackles.

The offense was led by John Solares, who rushed for 139 yards on 18 carries with a touchdown and a 2-point conversion. He was also a standout on defense as well.

Next week, the Vikings face Valley at Burbank High.

Midget Green 42  N. Oxnard Black 14

Midget Green took their show on the road and dominated North Oxnard Black with a 42-14 victory at Oxnard High School. With the victory, the Vikings remained undefeated at 5-0.

As usual, Midget Black owned the first half. This time, it was a 28-0 first quarter explosion that set the tone for the rest of the game. Loyal Terry scored his first of four touchdowns early in the quarter by running over the safety en route to a 40-yard score. On the next possession, Terry dragged a few defenders for a 12-yard touchdown run. He also had touchdown runs of 13 and 53 yards in the second half. Terry finished with 118 total rushing yards on only six carries.

Dante Coxsom, who leads the team with 11 touchdowns in five games, scored two touchdowns in the first quarter with runs of 55 and 53 yards. He had 206 total yards on 15 carries.

Just as impressive as the scoring duo of Terry and Coxsom was the penetrating Vikings defense, led by linebackers Jake Moore and Max Mota. The two combined for 15 solo tackles and several assists. In five games, the defense has only allowed an average of eight points per game.

In a noteworthy performance, Manny Pimentel was 5 for 6 in kicking extra points. Midget Green takes on Canyon Green next Saturday morning at Burbank High.

Camarillo White 60  Midget Black 52

Midget Black’s offense lit up the scoreboard on Saturday with 52 points. Unfortunately, Camarillo White was one touchdown better as the Vikings were handed their fourth consecutive loss in devastating fashion at Camarillo High School.

The contest was back and forth all the way down to the final two minutes. Despite a valiant effort by the defense to regain the ball on a fourth down stoppage, the Vikings were unable to make another comeback before time expired.

Christopher Rozo led the Vikings with more than 400 total yards, including three kick-off returns for touchdowns. Quarterback Matthew Moreno ran for over 100 yards and passed for 100 more. Midget Black is now 1-4 on the season and will face Lancaster at Burbank High next Saturday.
