This week the John Burroughs Softball Camp has been giving back to the community by hosting their 2nd annual Future Stars Softball Camp.  Held at Izay Park,  the camp started Monday, October 24 and concludes Thursday, October 27.  The clinic runs from 3:30pm – 5:00pm each day.

7 year-old camper Rachel Little takes a swing.

Campers have receive all the fundamentals of the game of softball, while learning in a competitive and fun environment. Camp coaches include Burroughs Head Coach Doug Nicol, Burroughs Assistant Coach and University of Virginia All-American Sara Larquier, Burroughs Junior Varsity Head Coach Jason Burks, and Burroughs Assistant Coaches Jessica Rodriguez and Wesley Tanigawa……as well as John Burroughs Softball players acting as mentors for the campers who attended.

The camp has become very successful, and the coaching staff is considering hosting a second camp during the holiday season.  All of the girls who are participating in this year’s camp have come with a great attitude, and have worked extremely hard to improve. Congratulations to everyone who participated and much thanks to the John Burroughs Softball program for creating fun and exciting programs for the young players in our city.
