Burroughs’ Virtue Places Sixth At CIF State Finals

The honors continue to pile up for Burroughs High cross-runner Emily Virtue who joined a select group when she placed sixth overall at the CIF Southern Section State Division I Finals at Woodward Park in Fresno on Saturday.

Virtue’s time in the girls varsity race was 17 minutes and 39 seconds was the 13th fastest and her finish was the best ever by an Indians’ cross-runner. The previous best was Sadee Martinez’s 10th place in 2007.

In the boys varsity division, Jagdeep Chahal took 31st (15:44) while Justin Villagran grabbed 41st (15:51)).

Timothy Wells nabbed 66th (16:12), Jacob Calderon placed 118th (16:35), Andrew Barrondo took 120th (16:35), Chris Hoxsie finished 122nd (16:37) and Andrew Hoxsie managed to get 164th (17:22).
