In a powerful reminder that the next generation of change-makers is already finding their voice, students from Burbank’s own Dolores Huerta Middle School were front and center at a special event honoring civil rights legend Dolores Huerta on Wednesday, May 21st.

Burbank’s Art In Public Places Program (APP) was established in 1992. Requiring 1% of major construction project costs be allocated towards on-site art or to a public art fund has made it possible for recognized artists to enhance public spaces throughout Burbank with sculpture, murals, and environs. To date, there are over 130 Art in Public Places pieces throughout the city.

Over one hundred leaders from across Burbank joined Leadership Burbank for the culmination ceremony of its nine-month program with keynote speaker Andrew Skinner of the Triumph Foundation, on Wednesday, May 14th, at Woodbury University's Fletcher Jones Foundation Auditorium.
