City of Burbank

The City of Burbank is extending the hours of operation at one of its designated cooling centers to provide relief from the heat wave that is now forecast to last through the weekend.

While the City put on their annual event at Keystone and Chandler, numerous residents as well as Muir Middle School hosted events for their neighbors. We visited a few and saw true Burbank spirit.

The City of Burbank will once again open 'cooling centers' at two libraries to help residents escape the heat with temperatures excepted to top 100 degrees

The Mariposa Equestrian Bridge has reopened following the completion of necessary repairs and general maintenance that was expected to take at least another week.

Week three at the Starlight Bowl was another success with Face to Face. Deborah Dodge was once again roaming around and got some absolutely great photos. Next up this week are two great tribute bands for Journey and Bon Jovi.

Effective August 1, the Library will be offering free eBooks for download through its website. Up to five books may be checked out at any time for periods of 7 to 14 days. Currently, the Library has approximately 1200 titles available

Mandatory seismic work will start on the Northwest Branch Library on August 1 and will take until Spring 2013 before the branch will reopen
