National Police Week is this week from May 15-23 and the Burbank Police Department (BPD) is currently recruiting candidates to apply and join their team. As of January 1, 2023 the department has 146 of the 160 budgeted sworn police positions filled leaving them at 91% staffed.

Fire and Police Service Day was a huge success this past Saturday and brought out hundreds of people from the community to enjoy the event that took place at the Police and Fire Headquarters.

This week, April 9 to 15, 2023 is celebrated as National Public Safety Telecommunications Week, which is honored on the second full week of April every year since it was enacted by Congress and signed by President Clinton in 1991. During the April 4th Burbank City Council Meeting, Mayor Konstantine Anthony presented a proclamation declaring April 9 through the 15th of 2023, National Public Safety Telecommunications Week in the city of Burbank, which was accepted by Burbank Police Captain, JJ Puglisi, and communications manager, Cheryl Mendez.

A truck delivering pool chemicals accidental mixed a couple together causing the evacuation of McCambridge Recreation and the Burbank Tennis Center

An unidentified caller reported a shooting at Burroughs that police quickly responded to and found no evidence of any shots fired. Call was a hoax.
