The California Highway Patrol is asking for the public’s help is seeking information into this traffic accident that took the life of a Sunland resident. The accident occurred late Monday night southbound I-5 near Scott Road. Burbank Fire Fighters were called for the rescue of a car over the side, upon their arrival they found this Honda Pilot resting against this huge tree, with 3 people trapped inside. Fire fighters using the ‘Jaws of Life’ pulled 2 male victims out but the driver was pronounced DOA by paramedics. The injured were transported to USC Medical Center. The freeway’s right 2 lanes and San Fernando Blvd remained closed during the accident’s investigation. The driver, Ernesto Lopez, 25, of Sunland, was pronounced dead at the scene by Burbank Fire Department paramedics. His two passengers, Jose Lopez, 21, and Guadalupe Vasquez, 25, both of Sunland, were transported to County-USC Medical Center with moderate injuries.
