Burbank Firefighters were returning from another call when they smelled smoke in the area of Hollywood Way and Victory, around 6:00 pm Wednesday. After driving around the neighborhood, an alert neighbor on another street said he thought it was coming from Screenland Drive.
Further investigation by Engine Company 14, found a house in the 2000 block charged heavily with smoke and requested a full assignment of equipment, they looked in the windows and smoke filled the single story house. They entered the house and found a living room totally destroyed by fire and the remains of a dried Christmas Tree
Burbank Animal Control was called for two dogs that were in another room but quite scarred, they were removed while firefighters finished overhauling the room. Damage was reported at $125,000 and the cause was listed as a lamp near a very dry Christmas Tree.
The firefighters were under the direction of Battalion Chief Ron Barone. There were no injuries to firefighters. Burbank Fire Marshal Frank Walbert said it’s time to REMOVE your Christmas Tree, no matter what.
