City and Business Robbed Of Metals By Thieves

The Burbank Police Department has asked the public help in trying to find thieves who have been stealing metals around town.
During the past few months the City of Burbank has been experiencing an increase in the theft of metal from locations such as power sub-stations, parks, and local businesses. The thefts are taking place at all hours of day and night, and typically involve the theft of wiring, or piping which can then be sold as scrap. The wiring and piping are being removed from power poles, lighting fixtures, air conditioning units, and many other locations where the wiring is either exposed or accessible. Thieves are utilizing different types of cutting tools such as wire cutters or bolt cutters to remove the valuable metals.
Recently unknown suspects stole copper wiring from ballfield light poles. There was an additional attempt to steal aluminum park benches as well.
The Police Department is asking that citizens report any suspicious activity to 818 238-3000 involving subjects in areas where these metals can be accessed.
