DeBell Golf Club hosted its fiftieth annual High School Invitational on Wednesday, March 26. Twenty-one schools from around Southern California attended the event, with La Canada High School’s team taking first place and Josh Suh from La Canada High School garnering the Low Overall prize.
“Eleven years ago I was fortunate to have Mr. Jim Lloyd, Burbank Senior Men’s Club member, pass down the torch to continue the growth of this event,” commented DeBell’s Head Golf Professional, Joaquin Herbozo, PGA. “Unsure how many years I would be dedicating to this event, I now find myself in my tenth year and this experience has truly been rewarding.”
“Seeing this event grow each year is a true testament to the dedication that local Burbank clubs bring to juniors of Southern California,” he added.
“It is very exciting and rewarding building relationships with the coaches and seeing the development of the juniors,” continued Herbozo.
“DeBell Golf Club, in the last three years, has made tremendous strides to increase the junior involvement with the facility by creating fun and exciting programs like the Junior Summer Camps, Junior Golf League,” he said. “The latest, most involved program getting juniors prepared for tournament golf is the DeBell Junior Tour.”
The High School Invitational is the longest running tournament at DeBell Golf Club. Organizations that help support this tournament are the Burbank Rotary Club, Burbank Sunrise Kiwanis, Burbank Men’s Golf Club, Burbank Senior Men’s Club and the Burbank Women’s Golf Club.
