The 4th annual Downtown Burbank Car Classic will roll into downtown Burbank with celebrity vehicles from the Petersen Automotive Museum, the Television Motion Picture Car Club, and custom cars from the World Famous West Coast Customs, Saturday, August 1 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

In addition, there will be restored and pre-1974 cars, exotics, and hot rods spanning four blocks. Continuous music, chalk artists, and automotive-related vendors will round off activities at this outdoor street festival. The Downtown Burbank Car Classic is free and open to the public.

The Red Carpet Expo, which is dedicated to famous cars from film and television, will feature celebrity vehicles from the Petersen Automotive Museum collection.

Included will be the 1999 MACH 5 Speed Racer Prototype as depicted in the 1967 animated television series Speed Racer and the movie Speed Racer (2008), the 2001 HONDA S2000 as driven in the opening sequence of the 2003 Universal film 2 Fast 2 Furious, and the 1998 VOLKSWAGEN New Beetle “Shagmobile,” specially modified for the 1999 movie, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, where it appeared as a time machine allowing Austin Powers to return to 1969.

Entertainment at the main stage will be supplied by KCRW DJ Gary Calamar from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with high energy dance band PartyQuake performing from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The Lifetime Achievement Award will be given to Motorsports Hall of Famer and drag racer Tommy Ivo. Movie actor, pioneering drag racer, and Motorsports Hall of Famer, Ivo built his cars in the garage behind his Burbank home, becoming the first driver to pilot his dragsters up to 180 miles per hour. The Downtown Burbank Car Classic salutes Ivo as showman, automotive enthusiast, and one of drag racing’s most irrepressible characters.

Vehicle owners will have the opportunity to mingle with car buffs gathering for the year-round Bob’s Friday night Classic Car Show, while enjoying burgers and shakes.
