An 18 year-old man was transported to St. Joseph’s Emergency Room Thursday with a gunshot wound to the upper left shoulder. While treating the victim, hospital officials notified the Burbank Police Department who responded officers to the ER.
Police interviewed the victim and found that he had been shot in the 200 block of West Verdugo around 2:30 Thursday afternoon. Police responded to the scene to investigate.
Their preliminary investigation revealed that a black sedan, occupied by two Hispanic males, drove by and yelled gang related obscenities and shot at the victim and his friend.
The victim’s injuries do not appear life-threatening.
Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Detective Brimway at (818) 238-3278 or (818) 238-3000. You can also call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477) to remain anonymous.
Gang members live, work, and play in Burbank. A majority of thefts, and other crimes are committed by gang members. Why is there no longer a gang unit in Burbank. Why are so many detective positions un-filled. Officers have been promoted to detective rank, yet they remain assigned to patrol. Detective pisitions are understaffed. Response times are down. When will real questions start getting asked. There is mismanagement in the police department. When will the managers be questioned about policy which creates a lack of safety for the citizens in the city of burbank!?
There will lays b gang members. Sorry to say but the police r a gang of their own u can’t trust Noone . I’m a gang member but not active I don’t believe in drive by shooting never have. I don’t believe in disrespecting anyone’s fam or threatening others fam .living that kind of life style any thing can happen. We pick and choose our own battles.when I started to have my own fam that’s when I said this cycle has to stop .iv got 3 boys and none of them r gang afeleatted . Thanks to GOD. The community needs to get together and become their own police I’m sorry but it is what it is and we got to do what we gotta do.
The question is, Why did the police have to find out about the drive by shooting from the victim in the ER? Why did no one call the cops when gun shots where fired? Are we just turning our heads to ignore it or are we that desensitized?
