Come join the Burbank Fire Department for Fire Service Day on Saturday, May 11, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., featuring live demonstrations, displays, Lil’ Squirt with his special guests and lots more. This year the Fire Department has partnered with the Burbank Police Department in recognition of National Police Week. The Burbank Fire Department is also celebrating its 100th year anniversary. These events will take place in and around the Police/Fire Building at the intersection of Orange Grove and Third Street. They are open and free to everyone.
Don’t miss this day of fun with Burbank Fire Department displays and demonstrations including vehicle extrication, kid’s obstacle course, Airport Crash Units, Burbank Fire Corp display, and learn street CPR. In celebration of the 100th year anniversary the Burbank Fire Department will be demonstrating how fires were fought 100 years ago by operating its 1913 Christie Steamer. The Burbank Police Department will be present with the ever-popular Police K-9’s, the Dare Van, Special Response Unit, Helicopter and more. Both Fire and Police departments will offer behind-the-scenes tours of their operations facility and the Police-Fire Museum will be open.
Other participants and sponsors include Bob Hope Airport Fire/Rescue, Walt Disney and Warner Brothers Fire Departments, the Disney Company, CalOX and the Downtown Burbank Partnership. Gourmet Food Trucks will be on site so you can enjoy a culinary treat while enjoying the demonstrations. In addition, Farmers Market, located just behind City Hall and adjacent to fire Service Day activities, will be in full swing from 8:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. This would also be a good opportunity to eat at one of the local restaurants in the downtown area.
